About Crokinole: The earliest patent for a Crokinole board was awarded in 1880. The earliest known board was made in 1876, and some evidence exists that the game was being played by the mid-1860s.
Crokinole can be played with either two players or four players, in two teams. The goal is to position your wooden disks as close to the center as possible -- hopefully into the sunken hole in the very middle of the board -- while preventing your opponent(s) from doing the same.
Why It's Significant (in 25 words or less): Crokinole is one of the most enduring and most popular flick-and-bounce dexterity games, a family that also includes Carrom.
